Violette Kew - Le Protecteur - Eau de Parfum

As a big fan of Le Jardin Retrouvé fragrances, I had high expectations for this violet centric perfume. My enthusiasm stemmed from my love for Le Jardin Retrouvé's previous offerings, all of which I have thoroughly enjoyed. However, my experience with this particular fragrance has been disappointing.

Initially, I was greeted with a subtle hint of violet, which quickly faded, leaving me with an overwhelming scent of cardamom and cumin. Rather than harmonizing, these spices intensified over time, creating an aroma reminiscent of strong body odor. Despite my attempts to layer this fragrance with others, the robust spices dominated any additional scents, resulting in an undesirable combination that felt more like a failed attempt to mask body odor.

I cannot tell if my bottle may be defective or if this is the intended scent profile. Nevertheless, both my boyfriend and I, after testing it separately to consider differing body chemistries, found ourselves in agreement: the fragrance leaned heavily towards the spice notes, rather than the sweet violet described in some reviews. This experience has left me deeply disappointed, as I had hoped for a unique violet perfume in line with my admiration for this perfume house.

It's amazing and very therapeutically. Before sleeping sprayed a few sprays on my neck and I wake up happy and can breathe good. I suffered a little bit of asthma. Maybe the Cumin or Cardamom helps me to breathe better. So it's lovely to smell it and also a medication for me. I love it. Thank you!

I love this so much. It captures the fresh prettiness of parma violets but without sugariness or too much powder cover. The cumin isn't identifiable as a discrete note but hovers in the background, giving the fragrance a midly spicy twist. So clever, and it's perfectly blended. Perfumes lately seem to be dominated by strident, chemical notes but this one celebrates nature then enhances it into an intriguing and lovely scent.

Man talk about a scent that makes you do a double-take. Smells like the effervescent fizz of Coco-Cola upon first spritz. Then a confusing memory tries to surface. Is that the muddled sweetness of cream soda, maybe the mist of ginger ale... you know when a snickerdoodle is made with too much butter and the taste loses it's sweetness? No more cinnamon anticipation, just dull, over-caramelized edges? But to keep it all from being too white-chocolate creamy there's the bastardization of a chili spice, cumin. Leaves it feeling normal, damp from the weather, and a bit late getting home. Normally when a scent leans powdery I fall into a church pew, a congregation of aged women at either elbow. Somehow this one feels more like dusting talc off a found jacket in a thrift store maybe belonging to a pipe-smoking gentleman whose life well-lived is still nestled in the fabric's weave.

Cette violette est franchement sympathique à porter ! Si le cumin peut intimider certains au tout début, il se fond parfaitement en vitesse de croisière avec la petite et le bois de santal.

Romantic like a dream

...until I smelled this heavenly scent! It instantly makes me feel peaceful and calm. It also brings back memories of violet candies from my childhood, but it's in no way overly sweet or cloying. More like delicately beautiful and comforting.

Great package and items

I recently found Le Jardin and wanted to try a perfume that was completely different than anything else I had. This is it! It smells floral, slightly sweet, at first has a bitter dry down but then the floral comes back and lingers on your skin. It's so lovely! And the little bottle is just so cute!

The Violet Kew is an extravagant, original and oustanding fragrance like other fragrances of the brand but unfortunately I cant feel its mine. I hear only cumin on my skin and nothing else.... Also it does not stay long, 15 minutes and its gone...

Its wonderful perfume I love it 😊
